On October 25, 2017 PSAC Prairies REVP Marianne Hladun gave remarks and presented PSAC's Submission on Bill 23, The Fisheries Amendment Act, to the Standing Committee on Legislative Affairs of the Manitoba Legislature.
The Promise:
In January 2017, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held a Town Hall at the University of Saskatchewan. In response to a question about the Vegreville Case Processing Centre closure, he said: "Compensation and packages will be made available to those employees who do not wish to relocate."
The Reality:
PSAC is actively working with other unions in Manitoba. Our priority is to ensure that members continue to be represented and that we stand in solidarity with other unions. On May 8, PSAC Prairies Regional Executive Vice-President Marianne Hladun presented to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba Standing Committee on Legislative Affairs regarding Bill 29: The Health Sector Bargaining Unit Review Act.
On November 1, 2016, Marianne Hladun, PSAC Prairies Regional Executive Vice-President, presented to the Manitoba government's Standing Committee on Social and Economic Development. She appeared in front of Committee members in the Manitoba Legislative Building to submit PSAC's position on Bill 7: The Labour Relations Amendment Act.
Union leaders from the Public Service Alliance of Canada representing over 170,000 workers across Canada will be joining fellow PSAC sisters and brothers from PSAC and many other unions at the first ever Steinbach Pride March for Equality on Saturday, July 9.
Over 100 people participated in the PSAC Regina and District Regional Women’s Committee walk on Mother’s Day to commemorate the ongoing tragedy of missing and murdered Indigenous women.
